Overview
This article provides the steps to fix an issue you may encounter when upgrading or uninstalling GFI Archiver.
Information
When trying to uninstall or upgrade an installation of GFI Archiver, the following error pops up:
Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid.
This issue occurs because the Transforms file, which is required for the uninstall, does not exist on the disk anymore.
Process
- Run the GFI Archiver installer (you might need to use the installer from the same build that is currently installed).
- Choose the same language as the current installation (English is used as an example in this article).
- Browse to
%temp%
and search for the file 1033.mst. - Copy the file to a fixed location (e.g.,
C:\temp\1033.mst
). - Cancel the installation.
- Open Registry Editor and locate the following registry key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products
. - Search on this node for "GFI Archiver" or "GFI MailArchiver," and you should find a key that includes the Product Name with the value "GFI Archiver" or "GFI MailArchiver".
- On the same node look for a key named
Transforms
, with the following value:- On Windows 2003:
C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\3\{69225D64-2662-448D-93FE-35A252354B90}\1033.MST
. - On Windows 2008 or later:
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\{D4CCA619-6D59-4D66-A25D-6B2EBF0B020F}\1033.MST
.
- On Windows 2003:
- If you try to locate the file above, you will find that it does not exist. Change this registry key value to the previously defined one in step 4.
- Re-try the uninstall or upgrade.
