Overview

This article describes the issue and its resolution when trying to install the GFI Archiver Outlook Connector; the following error is shown:

The older version of GFI MailArchiver 2013 Outlook Connector cannot be removed.

Note: The version number within the error can be different.

Although an older version of the Outlook Connector is not shown to be installed under the Windows Control Panel, but the GFI Archiver Outlook Connector installation log reads:

Environment

Root Cause

Remains of an older GFI Archiver Outlook Connector installation are present and incomplete.

Resolution

1. Create a backup of the system/registry.
2. Open the registry editor (Start > Run > type regedit.exe and press Enter).
3. Navigate to: HKLM\Software\Classes\Installer\Products
4. Export the key (such as 757E71F7D69F5B648A2A78896F8328D7 from the example above) to a reg-file on disk.
5. Delete the key (such as 757E71F7D69F5B648A2A78896F8328D7 from the example above).
6. Re-run the Outlook Connector installation again.
